Baccarat Rules
Baccarat is played with 8 decks of cards. Cards of a value less than ten are counted at their printed value whereas ten, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each given a value of 1. Wagers are placed upon the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual persons; they just act as the two hands to be dealt).
Two hands of 2 cards will now be played to the ‘banker’ and ‘player’. The value for any hand shall be the total of the two cards, but the first digit is removed. For eg, a hand of seven and 5 produces a tally of 2 (7plusfive=twelve; drop the ‘one’).
A 3rd card could be dealt depending on the following guidelines:
- If the player or banker has a tally of 8 or 9, each gamblers stand.
- If the bettor has five or lower, he/she hits. bettors stand otherwise.
- If bettor stands, the banker hits of five or lower. If the bettor hits, a chart is used to judge if the banker stands or hits.
Baccarat Odds
The greater of the 2 scores will be the winner. Winning wagers on the banker pay at nineteen to 20 (even money minus a five percent commission. Commission is kept track of and moved out when you leave the table so ensure that you have cash still before you leave). Winning bets on the player pay one to one. Winning bets for tie as a rule pays 8 to one and sometimes 9 to 1. (This is a crazy bet as ties occur less than one every 10 hands. Run away from laying money on a tie. Even so odds are substantially better – 9 to 1 versus eight to 1)
When played accurately, baccarat presents relatively good odds, apart from the tie bet obviously.
Baccarat Tactics
As with just about all games, Baccarat has some established misunderstandings. 1 of which is very similar to a roulette misconception. The past is not an indicator of future results. Tracking of historic results on a chart is definitely a waste of paper … an insult to the tree that gave its life for our stationary needs.
The most commonly used and possibly most successful strategy is the one-three-2-6 method. This scheme is employed to maximize payouts and limiting risk.
Begin by gambling 1 unit. If you win, add 1 more to the 2 on the table for a total of three on the 2nd bet. If you win you will have six on the table, remove four so you have 2 on the third wager. If you win the 3rd gamble, add 2 to the 4 on the table for a sum of 6 on the 4th gamble.
If you don’t win on the 1st wager, you suck up a loss of 1. A win on the first bet followed by loss on the 2nd will create a loss of 2. Wins on the 1st two with a loss on the third gives you a profit of 2. And wins on the first three with a loss on the fourth mean you break even. Arriving at a win on all four bets leaves you with twelve, a profit of 10. Therefore you can fail to win the 2nd bet 5 times for every successful streak of 4 bets and still break even.
