Baccarat Principles
Baccarat banque is gambled on with eight decks of cards in a dealing shoe. Cards below 10 are worth their printed number while 10, J, Q, K are zero, and A is 1. Wagers are made on the ‘banker’, the ‘player’, or on a tie (these are not really people; they simply represent the two hands to be dealt).
Two cards are dealt to both the ‘bank’ and ‘player’. The value for every hand is the sum total of the cards, although the 1st digit is dropped. e.g., a hand of five and 6 has a value of one (five plus six equals 11; ignore the first ‘one’).
A 3rd card may be given out using the following rules:
- If the gambler or house achieves a score of 8 or nine, both players hold.
- If the gambler has less than five, she takes a card. Players holds otherwise.
- If the gambler holds, the bank hits on a value lower than 5. If the gambler hits, a table is employed to see if the banker stands or hits.
Punto Banco Odds
The greater of the two hands wins. Winning wagers on the house pay out 19 to 20 (even payout less a five percent rake. Commission are kept track of and cleared out when you quit the table so make sure you have cash left over just before you leave). Winning bets on the gambler pay 1:1. Winning bets for a tie usually pay eight to one but sometimes 9:1. (This is a poor bet as ties occur lower than one in every 10 rounds. Be cautious of gambling on a tie. However odds are substantially better for 9 to 1 vs. eight to one)
Bet on properly baccarat banque gives fairly good odds, apart from the tie wager of course.
Punto Banco Method
As with all games Baccarat has quite a few common misconceptions. One of which is the same as a false impression in roulette. The past isn’t a fore-teller of events about to happen. Tracking previous results at a table is a waste of paper and an insult to the tree that was cut down for our paper needs.
The most familiar and almost certainly the most successful course of action is the 1-3-2-6 method. This method is employed to build up profits and limit risk.
Start by betting 1 dollar. If you succeed, add one more to the 2 on the table for a grand total of 3 units on the second bet. Should you succeed you will hold six on the table, remove four so you are left with 2 on the third bet. Should you win the third wager, put down two to the four on the game table for a total of 6 on the fourth bet.
Should you do not win on the 1st wager, you take a loss of one. A profit on the initial wager followed by a loss on the second brings about a loss of 2. Success on the first two with a hit on the third gives you with a gain of 2. And success on the first three with a loss on the 4th means you break even. Winning all four wagers gives you with twelve, a take of ten. This means you can not win on the 2nd wager 5 times for every favorable run of four bets and in the end, balance the books.
