Baccarat Rules
Baccarat is played with eight decks of cards. Cards which are of a value less than ten are said to be at their printed value while ten, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each given a value of 1. Bets are placed upon the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual gamblers; they only act as the 2 hands to be played).
Two hands of 2 cards will then be given to the ‘banker’ … ‘player’. The total for every hand shall be the grand total of the 2 cards, but the first digit is dropped. For eg, a hand of 7 and 5 results in a score of 2 (sevenplusfive=12; drop the ‘one’).
A 3rd card may be given depending on the foll. codes:
- If the gambler or banker has a tally of eight or 9, both bettors stand.
- If the gambler has five or less, he hits. gamblers stand otherwise.
- If gambler stands, the banker hits of five or lower. If the bettor hits, a chart is used in order to figure if the banker stands or hits.
Baccarat Odds
The higher of the two scores is the winner. Winning wagers on the banker pay nineteen to twenty (even money less a 5% commission. Commission is followed closely and paid out when you leave the table so be sure to have money left before you leave). Winning bets on the player pay one to one. Winner bets for tie normally pay 8 to 1 and occasionally 9 to one. (This is not a good bet as ties happen lower than 1 every 10 hands. Run away from putting money on a tie. However odds are somewhat better – nine to 1 versus eight to 1)
When played accurately, baccarat presents relatively good odds, aside from the tie bet of course.
Baccarat Strategy
As with all games, Baccarat has some well-known misconceptions. 1 of which is quite similar to a roulette misconception. The past is in no way a predictor of future actions. Monitoring of past outcomes on a chart is definitely a total waste of paper as well as a slap in the face for the tree that gave its life to be used as our stationary.
The most common and probably most successful technique is the 1-3-2-6 method. This tactic is used to pump up wins and minimizing risk.
start by gambling one unit. If you win, add 1 more to the 2 on the table for a total of 3 on the 2nd bet. If you win you will have 6 on the table, clear away 4 so you have two on the third gamble. If you win the third wager, add two to the 4 on the table for a grand total of six on the fourth gamble.
If you lose on the 1st bet, you take a loss of 1. A win on the 1st bet followed by loss on the 2nd brings about a loss of 2. Wins on the first two with a loss on the third gives you a profit of two. And wins on the first 3 with a loss on the fourth mean you breakeven. Coming away with a win on all four bets leaves you with 12, a profit of 10. Thus that you can get beaten the second bet 5 times for every successful streak of four bets and still break even.
